Mike Sanfratello's father was a career military man, and both his parents retired at William’s Air Force Base in Arizona. Being the last of six children, he grew up in Scottsdale and attended Coronado High School. There, he showcased his athletic prowess as a two-sport athlete, earning the title of Athlete of the Year in 1986. Upon securing a football scholarship to Northern Arizona University, he pursued a degree in Criminal Law. As a member of the Lumberjack football program, he attained the prestigious honor of being a two-time All-American and served as Captain of the team during his final two seasons.
In 1991, he signed with the San Francisco 49ers for a two-year stint in professional football. Transitioning from his football career, he embarked on a journey with the Fellowship of Christian Athletes, where he has been a leader for 31 years and currently holds the position of Arizona Director of Legacy Giving. Among his many roles, he served as the chaplain for Arizona State University's football program for sixteen years. Phoenix, Arizona, is where he calls home, where he and his college sweetheart, Lise, are raising their two children, Sara and Anthony. He finds fulfillment in contributing to the community as a coach at both the high school and youth sports levels.
